In the studio this morning I worked on ironing fusable onto clothing for a quilt that Mary is working on. The quilt is being made out of discarded clothing found near the border between the US and Mexico for a local organization. The quilt is meant to commemorate the individuals that died trying to cross the border in the last year.
In the afternoon, Mary showed me a variety of ways to hand stitch fabric to create designs before dyeing. Over the next several days I will be working to stitch fabrics and prepare designs to dye for next week.
